Aerolite 50mm Soft Touch is a light, easy-to-handle glasswool insulation designed for topping up existing ceilings or adding a quick energy boost in garages, storerooms, or areas with limited space.

While not suitable as the only insulation layer in colder regions, it’s perfect for boosting comfort, cutting noise, and improving energy efficiency in milder parts of South Africa. Manufactured with advanced soft-touch fibers, Aerolite 50mm is safe to install, SANS-compliant, and made from over 80% recycled glass.

Description

Aerolite 50mm Insulation

Aerolite 50mm Soft Touch is a lightweight, non-combustible ceiling insulation we often use to top up thin or under‑insulated lofts and roof spaces. It’s ideal when you have limited ceiling depth or want quick acoustic and thermal gains—without installing a thicker blanket like the 100mm or 135mm options.

As ceiling insulation installers serving Durban, we see it work well in garages, outbuildings, or lofts where space is tight and budgets matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Can 50mm be used alone?
A: On its own, it doesn’t meet R‑value requirements for colder regions—used best as a top‑up to boost existing insulation.
  • Q: Will Aerolite 50mm help reduce noise?
A: Yes, the NRC rating of 0.80 offers good sound absorption—perfect for quieting ceilings or partition walls.
  • Q: Is it dusty or irritating to install?
A: Not really. The “Soft Touch” variant minimizes fiber dust and avoids irritation compared to older glasswool types.
  • Q: Is Aerolite safe for kids and pets?
    A: Absolutely. It’s non-toxic, formaldehyde-free, inert, and carries the highest fire-rating (A1).
  • Q: How much difference will it make?
A: Even 50mm improves thermal comfort by reducing heat gain in summer and minor heat loss in winter—especially when laid over old insulation.
  • Q: How many rolls do I need?
A: Divide your total ceiling area by 12 m², then add a little extra for cuts and overlaps. We can calculate this for you—just ask!
